As some of you know, I posted a fic challenge at Borgin and Burkes. I'm very pleased to tell you that DracosMinx has risen to the challenge. Her challenge story, which runs to several chapters and is currently in progress, is 'Interludes of Light and Dark'. It can be found at the Silver Snitch (be warned, it's HP/LM slash and NC17, so don't read if you don't like boys doing explicit things with each other):
http://www.lakdiva.org/~thesilve/fic/viewstory.php?sid=8691 Anyone who wants to is welcome to try the challenge:
The war is over. The dark has won. The light is reduced to a few hopeless rebel groups, with Harry as their leader and inspiration. The Dark Lord is remaking the wizarding world to suit himself. The problem is, the dark rule is nothing like anyone had expected. The corrupt Ministry has been torn down from within, and politics is no longer destroying society. Dark creatures such as werewolves and vampires finally gain equality, as do goblins and house elves. Magical orphans are sought out and loving wizarding families are found to care for them. The wizarding world has separated from the muggle one, and muggleborns are taken from their obliviated parents as soon as they are identified, but no-one complains - it had become obvious that muggle military researchers had been conducting torturous research on magical children. Harry finds himself wondering if he has been lied to about the dark, and if that is the case then was he also misled about the light. Realising that he has never actually heard the other side of the argument, he decides he needs to find out the truth about both sides. But the only people he can trust to answer his questions honestly are the Dark Lord and his followers.
The challenge as it was originally set was slash - HP with any combination of SS, DM, LM or TR (my favourite pairings). However, that seems a little unfair to Het and Gen writers, so if they want to write it without the slash, they're welcome to do so.
