O happy day!

I got a lovely chat with Colin when I got his autograph and he smiled SO MUCH and I told him how close I got to meeting him at the BFI last year and he asked "does this make up for it?" And I said this totally makes up for it :) And he said he wants to come to Melbourne and I told him he should come for a total national holiday. And he thanked me

I just read the list of tweets at colinm_fans and it all sounds so cheerful and exciting. I wonder what this is like for him because it's like he's still that guy from Armagh who's now in Australia where people stand in line to get his picture taken with him.

I am very happy.

I know you'll understand when I say, that was the encounter with him I'd really hoped to have. The one where he looked at me like I was the only person in the room and chatted even though there were hundreds of us and they were trying to move the line along. And oh, the SMILE.

His was the longest line. It snaked around with two or three zigzags. I'm glad he knows people love him so much. There were people of all ages and genders there to meet him, too. I think he is probably getting a lot out of it, even though I'm sure he will be very tired by now :) He seemed relaxed and cheerful.

Damn, this is making me happy! This is the kind of event I wanted for you and the kind of event I wanted for him (two separate things rolled into one). I love that he's getting such a warm and enthusiastic welcome! I was hoping the Aussies would deliver :D
