Geek it up... Wii style!

I'm surprised it's been about a week and I haven't brought this up. But it may be a different clientele on LJ.

So, last week, Nintendo's next gen system, initially codenamed Revolution, was officially named. The name is Wii. What does that mean? The general consensus on the internet has been negative. Why? Who knows? I mean, it's only a name. I kind of grimaced when I first heard it, but it didn't really affect me. Then I heard some of the negative feedback. The name started to grow on me. It wasn't a particularly clever name, it was the fact that people disliked it that I enjoyed more. But then, the revelation of the year came. You see, next week is E3 in Los Angeles. It's the biggest video game expo in North America (if not the world). Here, all things video game come together to showcase what they think will be the biggest things of the year, and try and sway favor from the competition. And two weeks before this event, Nintendo calls their new system Wii. You don't see the marketing genius behind this? For the cost of one of their tech guys putting a simple flash animation on their website, Nintendo made the biggest noise and the event hasn't even happened yet. Brilliant.

Now, it's expected that Nintendo will announce the official release date for the Wii during E3. Once it's out, big Wii parties will be going down,
