I think that's an entirely good reason not to see that movie. And I don't want to see screaming horses dying, thanks.

Same. Even when horses die in movies that aren't focused on it (like The Patriot), I can't watch.

I agree with both of these. Even if it's not 'really' happening to the horses on screen- I really, really don't need to see of hear it, the tears would be copious. As those images and sounds will get stuck in my head.

Even Humane Society commercials get to me.

Same here. I love Benedict Cumberbatch, but I just can't handle any movie where animals are hurt. Especially horses. :(

I'm sorry for your granddad.

Much less traumatic (as he arrived the week after the armistice in Korea), but my dad couldn't ever drum up any fondness for M*A*S*H for similar reasons.

My dad loved Tour of Duty mostly because he found it so therapeutic. But TOD wasn't a comedy and was very well-done as a period piece.
