So, do we do February?

Feb 06, 2011 13:05

Well, I think the whole four blogs in January thing worked out okay. Granted, I did leave them to the last minute and I'm not sure February will be any better since it's already the 6th and I'm only just making this post ( Read more... )

What's this I see about a new tv series based on the Smoke books? (Yay!!!!) But... is it true they want to change Tony to a female character? If so, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. ahem.

I must be so out of the loop. But I hope not. Tony has been my favourite character from his first introduction, even before he was fleshed out enough to earn his own series of books. His male-ness and his male dynamic with Henry and with Vickie alike is such a huge part of what makes the reader trust him and engage with him so deeply.

That was one of their original ideas - replace Tony with Coreen to pull the BT audience and make financing easier -- but that was almost a year ago and things have changed several times since. Last I heard, Tony was definitely male again.

Hey, you got them done in time, right? That's what deadlines are all about, after all. ;p
Do you 'find' your characters in someone you see on tv or in town, or people you've known in the past? (You cannot tell me that Michael was loosely based on anyone other than JP)If you do, then do you have a character page where you put up pictures of the person you're loosely basing on or someone who looks like that mental picture, just to help remind you throughout the story of your original vision for the character? Or do you find characters leap into mind, fully formed?
And wow, does that question even make sense?

Perfect sense and a good question that I'll probably answer in detail but I wanted to say you were right about Michael. *g*

Yay! I knew it! *g*
Re-reading right now, so it's fresh in my mind, but the first time I read it, the characterization was SO spot on, I knew it had to be. :)

You should talk about your grandkids! (Kidding. I live by "if you don't have anything useful to contribute, try something silly...")

Do you write books because you are just dying to write the story or because you can sell them? A mix of both? Are there books you write because your agent or publisher asks for them, even if you weren't planning to write that story? Does that make it harder to write?

Do you do any other crafts or arts besides writing? If so, what kind of projects do you take on?

I ask because I'm beginning to realize that not only do I like writing and music, I also enjoy things like photography, dance, and so much more...and I never would have dreamed that a few years ago.

Yes, yes! I read through the archives a few years back, when I had first discovered LJ, and you mentioned playing the guitar and singing (filking?). Do you still do that?
