My system is always "previous pair goes in the glovebox, previous glove box pair goes in the Lions box." (And yes, by that time it's generally inadvisable to drive with previous glovebox pair even in an emergency. *blush* But since I mostly live in contacts, buying two pair with every scrip is a bit overly.)
So my cupboards are bare. But I betcha I can poke the packrat hubby, among others...
My system is more 'when the beloved smacks you in the face with a baseball or both arms fall off my glasses while at a convention in GA, make an appointment to get new ones' which doesn't actually leave many donatable glasses lying around. *g*
*snorfle* That sounds much like hubby's system, actually. Except he can get away with it because I don't consider him to really count. He's one of those annoying people who can forget where he left them, because he can actually get out of the room where he left them without taking his life in his hands.
I just have vast gratitude for toric soft lenses. And about ten years' worth of "blind chick on stage" stories from before their advent. ("Cherie is the blonde blur. Beau is the tall blur. Dr. Lyman is the drunk blur. Something went crash and there's not usually a laugh now...")
I wonder if I can pledge retroactively if I donated my old glasses to the Lions in January, after getting my new glasses.
In the U.S., the value of the glasses is deductible for people who itemize deductions on their federal tax returns. (But good luck deciding how much you can deduct. I haven't been able to find any guidelines.)
All I can say is, we will not give up until they put Blood Ties back on!! Here's hoping the campaign helps many in need as well as Blood Ties..Thanks for creating these great characters Ms. Huff. See if you can figure out what my screenname means and that will tell you how addicted we all are to this great show!!
