Dragon Dances-Chinatown!

Feb 05, 2006 20:11

hoooowow. Chinatown was awesome today :D I hitched a ride on the train and went into Boston today, to meet up with michaella and kathy. Ir was funny, because on the way there, kathy and her father were speaking in 100% chinese (kathys chinese btw xD ) and....i had no idea what they were saying xx; you better have not been insulting me, kathy! xD

Anyway, we got there, and holy crap. I've never been to china town before...but i felt like such a foreigner xD; everyone was speaking chinese, everyone WAS chinese, and heres ando....your basic american. Well anyway, i must say. I really...really...LOVE dragon dances. The people playing the parts were so in sync with the music and eachother. And i thought it was cool about how they went around and visited all the stores, and threw out the old year (the people at the stores layed out oranges and lettuce, the dragons came over and did a cerimonial dance, then took the lettuce and oranges and threw them to the croud :D), then set of firecrackers in front of the stores x3. I felt bad though, one of the stores firecrackers didnt finish, so that means their going to have bad luck for the rest of the year D:
Shopping was fun too :3 All the stores were immensly cheap compared to the ones in salem, or around town, so...i bought everything i possibly could 8D; i ended up getting a chinese turtle figureine, a dragon candle holder, a kirin statue, a lucky pig penny jar, and a paper lamp :3 they had the neat square lamps, but they were much more money ;3; kathy ended up getting some turtles (real ones...they sell them in pairs on new years, since its good luck) they were so cute and little <3 we both got to name one, and i named the smallest one ruishen (my name in chinese....i think) because they kept calling it "little corinne" >>;

we also went to barnes and noble (were i got bleach vol. 11) and fanuel hall, were we had lunch. There was a poor pigeon there with a screwed up wing D: so...the nerdy vet-tech people we are, we went over and gave the bird a whole god damn optic examination xD there wasnt anything that wrong with it, so we concluded it his its wing on many of the thing wires that hung on the ceiling of the building. For lunch, i ended up getting chinese food. Kathy and michaella got sushi and cheesecake (weird combination, huh?).

After that we went back to china town, while shielding ourselves from the windy passage ways located in boston, watched some more dragon dances, and left. I got dropped off at northstation with all these creepy people BYMYSELFthankyouverymuch, So i had to deal with all those weirdos. Actually, there was only one creepy person we met, who tried doing kung-fu moves on kathy as we walked by xD;

ugh...so tired ;3; im coming down with a cold or something, maybe i wont have to go to school tomorrow >>;
