That ontd_political just isn't what it used to be. I remember when the people posting there were capable of having academic discussions, not just reactionary SJ mudslinging. Clearly, it's become one more site where I just don't read the comments.
Also, TIL that "outlier" is a four-letter word and not a technical term for people at the edge of a sample. And that when speaking of any issue, you have to focus on the outliers first, even if by definition the issue doesn't affect them.
In other news. Oakland hasn't burned down yet! I'm getting accustomed to the sound of hella-copters buzzing around at all hours of the night, and of lines of screaming cop cars coming in right up the street from the Creek and all points 925-ish. It's exciting!
I want to head down to the Y one of these days soon as renew my CPR/F.R. training so I can go out during actions as a medic. It's been years since I gave CPR to the plastic torso, and I'm really not looking forward to it, but other than playing Oracle, being a medic is pretty much the only way I can contribute. And I really feel compelled to contribute.
Also, since it's Education Week, if anybody has any questions about Occupy Oakland, this is the place to ask them!
