My bff & I went to see Ghostbusters in 3D tonight. Quite honestly, I was not expecting much. I was really, really surprised how good the movie was!
Spoilers ahead:
-I was loving all the SNL, Other Space & original Ghostbusters cameos. Ernie Hudson showing up made me go "Oh hell yeah, you get that money & proper recognition, bb." Even Dave Allen, aka The Troubadour from Gilmore Girls, has a bit part in GB. You should definitely browse the GB page on IMBD before you hit the theatre, so you know who to look for. Check out Yahoo's pieces about GB cameos, Easter eggs & references, too:
https://www.yahoo.com/movies/ghostbusters-all-the-callbacks-cameos-and-232152507.html -Laughed when the villain told the Ghostbusters "you should like girls." We see what you did there lmao
-Sit through the entire end credits. Our audience left as soon as the credits rolled, not realizing there's a brief tribute to Harold Ramis at the very end + one more scene (a cliffhanger) after that. If you want to read what the cliffhanger is:

- Kate McKinnon was the Tony Geary of the movie & I loved it.
- Leslie Jones kicked butt. She did an amazing job
- Erin's (Kristen Wiig) childhood backstory was a nice touch. The restaurant drama scene was funny
- Kevin's (Chris Hemsworth) clueless character was enjoyable. If you're thinking GB ends with him as a boyfriend or a hero, nope, that's not happening. Which is nice. Kevin earned his two sandwiches & that was enough lmao
- The soundtrack made me think "I want to buy that."
What I would've changed:
- Leslie should've gotten Melissa McCarthy's starring role. Was Melissa funny ? Yes. Did she have chemistry with the other actresses ? Yes. But I kinda felt like "she's playing the same character(s) again."
- Would've changed the Abby (Melissa), Erin (Kristen) & Patty (Leslie) story to Erin & Patty growing up together, Patty became a scientist & Abby was the (not platonic) exgirlfriend of Erin + worked for the MTA
- Jillian (Kate) did not get enough backstory
- Erin's constant adoration of Kevin should've been left out. It didn't add to the movie
- The joke about Eat Pray Love was dated & fell flat in our theatre
- Disliked the scenes about the villain going "oh, you want me to be cute", the balloon parade / smush & the portal rescue (or as I call it, The Magic School Bus Visits The 5th Dimension).
-The villain's metamorphosis should've been a new character, instead of revamped Marshmallow Man. Also, the fact that his takedown involved turning his crotch into s'mores was a bit wtf
- Leslie had an ad at the beginning of the movie. I think it was some app ? I don't really remember. What bugged me was that they had her hit on two guys in the ad, in unflattering scenes. The first guy acted like "omg, ew, wtf." The second guy (not really seen) was a tow truck driver who showed up for her car; his reaction was not shown. (1)It just felt a little insulting to have someone act horrified at the idea of a date with Leslie and (2) There wasn't a point to making her act flirty with a random tow truck driver.
I know that sounds like a lot of complaints. But those things did not ruin the movie, quite frankly. We were saying "oh shit", "omg did you see that" & laughing hard throughout the movie. Overall Ghostbusters was very satisfying & hilarious
