My review of Jurassic World, with spoilers:
-Judy Greer plays a mom of two boys, Zach & Gray. She sends them off on a vacation to visit their aunt, who works at Isla Nubar. The point of this trip is so she and her husband can divorce without the kids around. She keeps sobbing about "this was supposed to be our last family weekend." Judging by how she and the boys' father acted, you'd think they were being forced to split up against their will. It was so over the top and unnecessary to the plot.
- Gray was the most annoying kid ever. Raise your hand if you were disappointed he didn't get eaten ?
- Judy Greer constantly annoys her sister Aunt Claire (Bryce Howard) via cellphone about "omg, you're letting the kids run around without you ?" Apparently you can't let a 16 year old & a bb Sheldon Cooper run around a theme park alone
-If you watched the beginning of the movie, after the boys arrive at Isla Nubar, you'll figure out really quickly how the problems will be solved (although I did wonder "why wasn't that solution a safety issue at the beginning of the movie ?"). One particular movie poster shows the spoiler.
- I think I spotted a blurry shot of Jeff Goldblum on a book cover in the control room.
- The Indominus Rex cracked the glass of it's enclosure, yet nobody thought that merited an immediate repair. Ummm...
- When Barry (Omar Sy) got trapped in a log, I thought "Oh hell no, do not make a movie cliche out of him. You back off that fine man down & let the dino eat a tourist instead."
- JW was great at making me jump and gasp "oh shit!" more than once.
- I did feel sad when Owen (Chris Pratt) & Claire were comforting a dying dinosaur
- My reaction to Owen (Chris Pratt) on a bike was "I guess the marketing team added this so they can sell Owen On A Bike kids meal toys at Wendy's."
- Another let down was the writers allowing Claire to survive at the end. She should've been gulped down after lighting up the flare
- As this review pointed out, the Indominus Rex and Vincent D'onofrio didn't really serve a purpose. Although to be fair, I did enjoy what he and BD Wong brought to the table (I am a sucker for my Law & Order peeps). Their acting was on point; it was just the lack of explanation for their motives that left a hole in the plot. I also agreed that the park did not seem fun, once you realized the tourists spent most of their time away from actual dinosaurs.
http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2015/06/10/jurassic-world-review-the-park-should-have-stayed-closed - The last two minutes of the movie were too schmaltzy and and should've been left on the cutting room floor. Although I did laugh when I notice Chris Pratt had an erection in that scene.
-Walking out of the theatre, I realized "wait, where IS Barry ?!" This person pointed out Barry was in the last scene. I didn't even notice. Yipes
