Hard work brings you to places.
This is never been more striking until today.
I'm surrounded by friends who have worked damn hard to get to where they are. People who were brave enough to re-route along the way; people who had to go the long way; people who had to take the road less traveled; people who went with the flow, but did so with immense difficulties due to their circumstances. They all had their goals in mind, sucked it up, and just worked damn hard. Some are traveling or have traveled the world, some are doing their dream courses or jobs or internships, some are at comfortable places in their lives, some are still fighting their own battles.
So when persons who don't work hard and mock at others who do, or boasts how slacking and inaction gets them away, I get appalled, disgusted. It's like spitting on the efforts of those who were working their asses off for their ideals while you were doing god knows what.
Anyway... I've got some time on my hands now that I've deactivated facebook until my thesis is done. So I'll probably start writing more, at least for my own reflection's sake (even though these hours should be spent on reading journals). It feels weird because you feel entirely cut off from your social world. What do you do on that long bus journey? During waits (although it's almost never me)? After showers? Before bedtime? (how much time exactly do people spend on fb???). Now that I've gone cold turkey for a week, I'd say it gets easier. Gen still updates me on scandals or funny stories every now and then. I read the ALOT of news (BBC, CNA repeat refresh). I even have time to do quiet time. I'm thinking... maybe I don't want to return to facebook.
PS. I want to thank Ben for showing me that it is possible to get out of facebook for an extended period of time hahaha.
