There was a post by Father Teodulo Gonzales. I believe it was entitled From Diyes: Juan Tamad to Juan Tama. This contained ten tips per classification. There were many categories and I'll try to post it later. There was a list for parents to their children, for the politicians, how to take care of your body, how to grow spiritually and there was also something about managing your time efficiently.
But what caught my attention was the list for parents from their children and tips for students.
The tips addressed to the parents, I saw that my parents fulfilled most of them and I am glad that this I have wonderful parents like them. They trust us (or so I believe they do, hehe) , they are willing to listen (well there are exceptions). They do not impose themselves upon us. They let us make mistakes. Sometimes they may humiliate us, but I don't think they did it on purpose. And besides, these were only just us family. They do respect who we choose to be our friends and they try to get to know them as well (I suppose this is a way to check on them too). With their guidance, they discipline us with love and are with us as we grow to be who we want to be. This is because they love us unconditionally.
However, I saw that I was not being a good student. I know that I never was a model student, but to my horror, I followed only two out of the ten tips that were given! I won't tell you which becuase it is quite embarrassing what I follow.
I believe that doing these tips (mamili ka kung saan ang gusto mo dahil ang dami talaga), you don't have to do all at the same time, is helping us define ourselves as a better person. If all of us little by little improved ourselves then we are also practicing the Filipino National Tradition. Making ourselves better people does good to our country too.
