Name: Fai D. Flourite
Age: That's sort of a hard question! He appears to be in his early to mid-twenties, but it's impossible to tell. Then again, being trapped in a valley where time does not flow for a few decades will do that to a person.
Series: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Timeline: Just after the Acid Tokyo arc (Tokyo Revelations OVA in anime'verse).
Personality: Generally speaking, Fai is a jovial, energetic individual who seems to enjoy most everything about life, often teasing and encouraging his friends and fellow travelers, and making sure that everyone is alright and that things don't become intolerable for any of them (he goes so far in this that he dubs himself the "mommy" of the group). He smiles nearly constantly... even if the situation doesn't remotely call for it.
Recent events, however, have put some serious cracks in Fai's happy facade - the mask that he wears to seem like he does. More of the wounds he carries inside are beginning to show, and he has begun to distance himself from his fellow travelers, especially Kurogane. He smiles less, and speaks less, though the effort is there at times.
Above all, Fai is kind of an escapist. His stated goal is to never return to his own world, and his greatest fear is for the one he sealed there - Ashura-ou - to find him, though he refuses to elaborate on this point if asked. His fears and his nightmares are wrapped up in his past - in memories of climbing and bloody hands, of corpses all around him, of the guilt of knowing his brother's death was for him and his choice; in being asked to kill someone he loves; in being dragged back from death's door at such a high cost.
History: It wasn't his name at birth. When the twins were born to the second prince of Valeria, they were named Fai and Yuui, and the one who would grow to be known as Fai D. Flourite began his life as the latter, Yuui. In Valeria, twins were considered horrible omens, and as a result of both their status as twins and their enormous magical potential, their father died and their mother committed suicide. The panic afterwards ended with the twins being placed in a tower in a valley wherein time did not flow, with Fai at the top of the tower and Yuui at its base, with no means to reach each other, and no way to become free. Over time, the corpses of those who had died in the country "as a result of sin" were thrown to the base of the tower, where Yuui was. He attempted to climb to the top of the tower, but even climbing over the bodies of the dead who would not rot because of the way time functioned in the valley, he couldn't reach the top of the tower - he couldn't reach Fai.
There were many, many people at the base of the tower - corpses, and in the end, the king himself arrived at the base of the tower. Not as a corpse, but living, to inform Yuui that he has killed every other person in the country, and that his insanity - the deaths of all of those people - was the fault of the twins. He then commits suicide, leaving Fai and Yuui with this knowledge and this guilt. But they didn't remain from long, as they were visited by Fei Wang Reed, who offered to save just one of them from the tower, and made them choose which would be saved and which would die. Fai chose to save Yuui, but Fei Wang Reed tampered with Yuui's memory to make him believe that he had chosen his own life above his twin's. He also placed a curse upon the boy, though he also made it so that Yuui would not remember it.
It was with that guilt, that heavy feeling and the desire to save his twin, that he went with the man whom Fei Wang Reed had spoken of, who would take one of the twins away from there. The man was King Ashura (Ashura-ou), and he came from a different world - that of Celes. Taking the name of his twin, Fai, and the corpse thereof with the hope of reviving him, he went to Celes, where Ashura-ou taught him the use of his magic, among other things. Though it distressed him that he had no talent with healing magic, only with that which destroys, he pursued his studies and became more powerful. However, in the end, it turned out that Ashura-ou's cultivation of Fai's magic was so that he could use him, as well - he had gone mad, and was killing his people in order to increase his own magical power, and he wanted Fai to kill him. Fai, however, refused, and put Ashura-ou into a magical sleep instead.
Because of his actions, and the knowledge that one day, Ashura-ou would revive, Fai was forced to leave Celes. Asking his creation, Chii, to alert him if Ashura-ou were ever to awaken, Fai used his magic to go to the shop of the Space-Time Witch, Yuuko, whom he asked to allow him to travel to different worlds, but to never return to his own. In exchange for his traveling alongside Syaoran, Sakura, and Kurogane, and the tattoo that Ashura-ou had put on his back to limit the growth of his magical powers, she agreed, and thus Fai became a part of the worlds-spanning search for Sakura's feathers.
Recently, the clone Syaoran who had lost his "heart" as a result of the real Syaoran's awakening removed and consumed Fai's left eye in order to steal his power. To save his life, it was necessary for Kurogane to make a deal with both Yuuko and the vampire Subaru (though it was Subaru's twin, Kamui, who actually 'turns' Fai), to make Fai a vampire and thus able to regenerate quickly enough to survive the wound. However, Fai had specifically asked not to be saved, because his death would have robbed the clone Syaoran of his magic, and because he was revived against his wishes, with his life now tied to Kurogane, whose blood he needs to survive (and only his blood - unlike "typical" vampires, Fai's survival is tied directly to Kurogane), he has distanced himself sharply from the ninja, and is now very cold towards him.
Abilities/Powers: As a result of the loss of his left eye, Fai's magic has been halved, but he is still quite formidable; obviously, for the purposes of this game, his magic would have to be reduced further. Casting spells will be extremely difficult for him, and drain his energy quickly. He may heal at a slightly faster rate than others, due to the combination of his magic and vampirism. Hopefully, his dependence on Kurogane's blood will be lessened at least until the game gains a Kurogane. ;P Finally, Fai is extremely agile and an able fighter with most any weapon at hand, though he specializes in ranged weapons such as darts or spears.
