Squid and Whale: Metaphor and Cliche
Just a few thoughts on Day 5 (that would be 9153 days since inception,but who's counting :)P ) The Squid and the Whale, reading Leviathan, and metaphor...
Leave the Giant Squid Alone -- read this a metaphor or read it because it is short, or read it because it is about Squids and Whales, and what is not to love...I'm reading Leviathan, because I have a political theory class, and this is what students do in political theory classes. But I have to wonder, did Hobbes have a museum with a Squid and the Whale, a picture..maybe the engravings on the map of his expanding world...(and yes, Aster-blief, there will be quotes from Hobbes in the wedding toast.)
So that is a loaded little post...more later.
