Bright sunlight coming in the classroom window just as the bell rang changed Chanmi's mind about going to the study room after school. It looked too beautiful to miss, so she gathered her books up with the rest of her class and left, but she didn't follow them into the study room. Instead, she slipped out the back door to find a lounge on the back porch, checking first to make sure she wouldn't disturb anyone else. Not that she thought she would, but she'd rather know than have a surprise.

No one else occupied any of the lounges, so she settled into one and opened the text book for the most urgent class.

She'd gotten most of the way through the chapter, notes scribbled in her notebook so she could remember this concept, when she heard footsteps walking across the porch toward her. She looked up, then straightened minutely when she saw who sat down in the lounge chair next to her. "Is everything okay, oppa?" she asked.

"Yes," KyungJong said, pulling a book out of his backpack.

Chanmi went back to her own reading, only allowing herself to smile when she glanced over out of the corner of her eye to see him studying as diligently as she. She had no idea why he'd come out to study out here, too, but she couldn't help the uplift of her mood because of it. It had shocked most of the student body when Suzy started to date HyungJoon. They'd all thought she dated KyuJong.

Chanmi thanked the stars every night she'd thought wrong on that.

KyuJong slowly relaxed in the sunlight. He'd spent most of the day concentrating on getting Chanmi out here, and now he just had to get up the courage to actually talk to her.

Right. That would work. But he couldn't let the day go to waste, either, so he took a deep breath. "What are you studying?" he asked.

Chanmi looked up and smiled. "Physics," she said. "I think my professor wants me to really understand kinetic energy."

KyuJong smiled. "What do you mean?" he asked.

Chanmi shut her book. "It has to do with my power, I think. Or I'm reading things into it, but I wouldn't put it past any of them to make us study harder in any subject that has to do with our powers."

KyuJong grinned at her. "Maybe I'm lucky."

"Maybe," she said. "But I bet you get into chaos theory and odds at some point."

"Maybe," he agreed, sobering at the thought. "Chaos theory doesn't make sense."

"Because you haven't studied it yet," Chanmi said. "Neither does physics, and I live with it closer than most."

"They want you to understand why you do what you do."

"Yes."

KyuJong nodded, then closed his book. "They're having a movie in the game room tonight. Want to go?"

Chanmi stared at him and he wondered if he'd pushed his luck. He'd never turned it on her, to try to get her to like him - that felt way too unethical - but he had tried to get her away from everyone else. Had he read her wrong? Taewoon seemed to think he had a chance…. "I'd love to," she said finally.

"Great," KyuJong said. "I'll pick you up around 7:45?"

"I'd like that," she said.

He bit his lip a moment, then tried one more thing. "I think I have a pretty decent grasp on physics. Can I help?"

She looked relieved. "If you can help this make sense, I'd love it," she said.

KyuJong scooted his chair closer, and they settled down to look at the book together.
