"No, you can't tell her that," ChangMin said softly behind HyoYoung, and she blinked to clear her eyes, dragged back to her surroundings by the words.

"You can't not tell her," an unfamiliar voice said just as quietly. "It's not fair, and you're going to need her cooperation."

"Telling her will mean no cooperation," ChangMin retorted. "Trust me on this. It's like telling Narsha she couldn't be involved in rescuing Yesung-hyung."

"I had to drag her into that," the unfamiliar voice said, and HyoYoung turned around. The man standing nose-to-chin with the director of the school looked only vaguely familiar and very pretty. She might have seen him around - or she might have seen him thanks to her power. She couldn't be sure.

"Only because they weren't dating yet."

The pretty man shook his head. "But they are, and you will not be able to do this without her."

ChangMin sighed and rubbed his head. "Okay, okay, stop projecting like that, will you?" He looked at HyoYoung. "You have to go."

Her eyes widened and she gaped at him. "But I haven't found Taewoon-oppa yet," she argued.

"You won't be able to, until he blasts the front doors open, and by then it'll be too late," the pretty man said.

"Kim JaeJoong, precognition," ChangMin said, gesturing toward the pretty man with a sigh. "He's rarely wrong."

HyoYoung bit her lip. "And if he gets me?"

"We'll never see you again, and he… won't last long."

She stared at him. "He won't…."

JaeJoong shook his head. "You can't be here when he gets here. You can't."

"What happens if I'm not?"

"I don't know. But it has to be better than if you are here."

It wasn't much to go on, and that thought must have shown on her face. "Listen," ChangMin said. "The last time he did this, he didn't know what would happen if Narsha went with the group that went after Yesung. He just knew what would happen if she didn't. She went, and it all turned out much better than if she hadn't gone."

Not exactly a rousing endorsement, but… She sighed and tried to keep from crying. "When will he get here?"

"Tonight."

"Tonight? Where am I going to go?"

ChangMin smiled. "KwangHaeng will take you to a newly set up safe house. They won't expect you there." He looked at JaeJoong, who nodded. "Good. And I will have a word with a few other students." He closed his eyes, and within minutes she was holding KwangHaeng's hand, waiting to walk through one of his portals. As she stepped through, she heard HwaYoung, Chanmi, and JongKook asking questions all at once, and she nearly let go to return to the office - only they were already there, the portal gone.

She knew KwangHaeng was there, knew he would keep her as safe as he knew how, and yet….

It wasn't quite the same, because she knew TaeWoon would do almost anything to keep her safe, that he'd worked and tried and tested to hone his powers. And she knew part of it was because she hadn't felt safe since she'd tried to find her boyfriend, and he'd been just gone. As if he'd vanished (impossibly) off the face of the Earth.
