I got
this from
Writeworld on Tumblr. It's actually a pretty good little exercise. Or a few. Something like that. So, here's what I came up with.
1. Sit down and assess your situation. Make a list of all your current writing projects, including editing, critiquing, and new ideas.
Wolves in Eden
A Prophet's Wife
Unicorns on the Race Track
Bump in the Night
Infinite Space
Dance Partners
50ficlets -Coed School mutant!verse
Gender swap
Catling
Till it's Gone
>
writerverse Table of Doom
Haunted
100things_index ficpic table
2. Make a map. Try making a visual or written “map” of what is left to do on each item.
Wolves in Eden:
- name sensei in Castle Rock
- divide into chapters
- broad-stroke editing, get rid of unnecessary things
- fill out things missing, scenes and descriptions
A Prophet's Wife
- Broad editing: remove excess, fix wording (especially where it takes you out of the time)
- other editing: add in necessary scenes and descriptions
- fine tuning
Unicorns on the Race Track
- Decide on ending
- add in Tabitha's former owner earlier
- Outline (? broad strokes only), name all the characters
- Rewrite (nano?)
Bump in the Night
- Edit final scene (rewrite? add tension, action, etc.)
- Get to betas
- Edits
- post
Infinite Space
- Restart 71
- standardize spelling of MyungSu's name (not MyungSoo)
- light editing in parts about to post
- finish parts not done (71-91)
- find placese for prompts unassigned (side fics?)
Dance Partners
- fix ending (really, they need a kiss)
- edit: check on consistency
- post (maybe)
50ficlets Coed School mutant!verse
- Roll on remaining prompts
- brainstorm prompt/ character combos (don't be afraid to change these)
- write
- send to beta
- light edit
- post
GenderSwap
- name
- fill in Jae's pov (and play with where to fit it in)
- fitting ending - would they stay friends?
Catling
- finish character sheets
- place sheets
- do research (where possible)
- write (nano?)
- add in scenes written for
writerverseTill it's Gone
- Tweak so Jinnie's not so passive
- rename new guy (DaeHyun was a good name, but I hadn't expected to be proven right so spectacularly!)
Table of Doom
- write what prompts I can
- attempt poetry
- Screen play
Haunted
- version 4 final edits through Beta's work
- email beta
100things_index ficpic table
- brainstorm ideas for each pic I have (1-58)
- add pictures as I find them
- write
- light editing (check for consistency within)
- post
3. Don’t kid yourself. If you’ve written an item on your list that you are loathe to finish, cross it off and add it to another list of things on your back burner.
Till it's Gone. It can wait a while - I still haven't got an ending thats right.
Unicorns on the Race Track. Same problem.
A Prophet's Wife. Not ready for that yet.
4. Cut them up. Look at each of the writing projects left on your main list. (Me: also known as the very next smallest step.)
Wolves in Eden - wait for beta to return it. Hopefully that will give me a place to start.
Bump in the Night - rewrite that final scene. If it sucks, that's what the betas will tell me.
Dance Partners - Back up two sections probably, delete, and start over. Let them talk before they go back to their respective groups.
50ficlets - get a die, start rolling. Ignore that JongKook really hasn't got a date or anything in there.
Genderswap - write Jae's pov. I can play with order later.
Catling - finish up the character sheets for people I know about.
Table of Doom - prompt: Moon
Haunted - edits on chapter two.
FicPics - brainstorm first five
5. Start. Look over your list of smaller tasks.
I'll do this. When I don't have too much to do other places. *sobs*
6. Finish. Once you’ve completed all the smaller tasks for a writing project on your list, celebrate!
