Title: Yesung Gets the Girl
Disclaimer: Not mine, not true.
Summary: Yesung isn't happy. Narsha wants to fix that. Someone else doesn't want them involved.
Pairings: Yesung/Narsha, HeeChul/Hankyung, EunHyuk/DongHae
Rating: PG

Yesung threw himself into his work, grateful for the distraction of the musical. Nine hours a day in rehearsal, dinner, more hours of work on his lines, the songs - it made the Narsha-shaped hole in his life get smaller. He still had to admit that he couldn't do it alone and saw someone. The anti-depressants didn't help as much as he'd hoped, but he couldn't get anything stronger, not right now. He had too much to do.

He still missed her, and opening night he wanted, so badly, to share that success with her. But he went on, rehearsals, performances, and he loved it.

As soon as that ended, he went straight into promotions for the next Super Junior song, as M had returned, and he found himself dragging. He struggled, feeling like he moved through thigh-deep snow, trying to keep up.

This time, having everyone paired up was a blessing - no one seemed to notice. At least, no one said anything to him. But it kept getting worse.

One morning, it all came to a head. He'd managed to get to that morning's rehearsal on time (since the manager - yes, the same one - had threatened him), but it took everything he had. He just couldn't keep up once practice actually started.

"What's wrong?" LeeTeuk asked at their first break, looking worried. Kangin hovered behind him, some distance away.

Yesung shook his head. "I'm fine," he said.

"No, you aren't," Hankyung snapped, and Yesung looked up at him, startled.

"Hyung?"

"You haven't been anything close to fine for weeks."

"Hankyung," LeeTeuk said, and the dancer backed away, still angry. LeeTeuk turned back to Yesung. "Are you sure?"

He was just so tired. "I'm fine," he insisted.

LeeTeuk patted his shoulder. "Prove it," he said gently, and turned away. Yesung just stared after him, unable to make himself move.

"You came down pretty hard on him," HeeChul murmured neutrally to Hankyung.

"Nothing else is working," Hankyung growled back. "We're not stupid. We can see something's wrong."

"If he doesn't want help…." HeeChul said. Everything else aside, lately Hankyung had been snippy, and the only thing he could point to was Yesung. Everything else seemed fine, but something had happened between them.

Hankyung scowled and moved away. HeeChul watched him, then started after him as he stopped in front of Yesung, who hadn't moved, even after LeeTeuk had walked away. Hankyung grabbed the younger man's shoulders and shook him, speaking softly to him.

HeeChul thought he understood his boyfriend's frustration - fear - at the utterly blank look in Yesung's eyes. He sped up, reaching the pair as Hankyung let Yesung go and stalked away. Somehow, in the instant HeeChul turned to go after Hankyung, he caught the despair and devastation on Yesung's face before he walked woodenly out the door.

HeeChul hesitated. He knew he was not the best choice to follow Yesung, but no one else made a move to. He shrugged and went after the singer, closing the door that he'd left open. Someone had to find out what was wrong.

Yesung was already almost out of sight, around the corner leading to the stairs. HeeChul ran after him in silence. No reason to broadcast that either of them were in the halls. He took the stairs two at a time, wondering when Yesung had gotten so fast; Yesung had shorter legs than he did. HeeChul hit the bottom of the stairs just in time to see Yesung walk quickly out the front door.

HeeChul sped up, angry at this whole situation, and caught Yesung at the curb, where he tried to hail a cab. "Where are you going?"

Yesung looked at him, his eyes dead, dull, emotionless. "Away. Anywhere."

HeeChul pulled him away from the curb, back inside, and into one of the small conference rooms on the main floor. Whatever had happened, he didn't want it public. He doubted Yesung did, either. "What happened?" he asked.

Yesung pulled his arm free and rubbed it. "It doesn't matter," he said bitterly, then took a deep breath and let it out. "It doesn't matter. It's done." His tone matched the deadness in his eyes. HeeChul frowned. It wasn't like Yesung to hide how he felt, and he didn't like the change.

"Where were you going?" Heechul asked, trying to keep it light. He didn't want Yesung to know how worried he was, half afraid it would scare him off.

"I don't know. Away." Yesung shrugged again. "I would have come back."

HeeChul tilted his head. "Not to see your girl?"

Yesung flinched and turned away. HeeChul narrowed his eyes, watching the younger man pace restlessly around the table. "No," he finally said. "I can't."

"You can't?" HeeChul asked.

"No."

He obviously didn't want to talk about it. HeeChul usually would have let it go, but this time it seemed more important. "Why can't you?"

"It doesn't matter. I can't, I broke it off with her…."

"Why?" That made no sense.

"I was told to."

"Told to?" HeeChul repeated, trying not to be too sharp. "How, told to?" He didn't like this at all. And it wasn't right. For once, Yesung had seemed happy. Not to mention that for a while now he hadn't had to worry about losing his boyfriend.

"He threatened her, threatened he could do things to her, ruin her career, if I didn't." Yesung still didn't look at him, his pacing feverish. "I can't do that. I can't be that selfish."

HeeChul folded his arms, keeping his anger only to that. He wasn't angry at Yesung, and didn't want the singer to think he was. "Which manager?"

"If I give you his name, can I go?"

That threw him most of all. It didn't sound like Yesung: fail, laughter, intense anger together with a unique and beautiful voice. It sounded like a… child. HeeChul furrowed his brow, but Yesung still didn't look at him. "Sure. Try to get back to the dorm this evening, so Teukie-hyung doesn't kill me."

Yesung nodded and stopped his pacing long enough to say the name clearly, then left the room, striding across the lobby with an urgency usually reserved for maintaining dignity while being chased by fangirls. HeeChul watched him go, unaware that he was grinding his teeth. He turned away, then stopped before he reached the elevators at a screech of brakes and looked back.

The receptionist looked at him, wide-eyed, and grabbed the phone to call emergency services.

"Yes," LeeTeuk said wearily. "He's been depressed before. But he seemed to be doing really well until recently."

The doctor looked up sharply from the clipboard in his hands. "What happened recently?"

LeeTeuk shook his head. "I don't know. He's very… closed." And, granted, he'd been a bit wrapped up in his own relationship. "I did hear a rumor though, and you could ask HeeChul. They live on the same floor."

HeeChul looked up. "A rumor?" he repeated. "What rumor?"

"About Yesung. I know a few of the guys were on a lookout for a girl with him. Do you know anything about that?" LeeTeuk asked.

HeeChul took a deep breath. "We saw her leaving his apartment a couple of times, but then... she stopped."

"Stopped?" the doctor asked.

"Stopped showing up," HeeChul said, and the way his eyes glinted, LeeTeuk figured he knew something. "He had a fight with Hankyung, but I don't know what it was about."

LeeTeuk nodded. "That came out a couple of months ago," he said. "He seemed really happy before then. I don't know what happened."

The doctor nodded absently. "He'll be okay as soon as his leg and arm heal. He'll have some occupational therapy, but it shouldn't be much. We are a bit worried about his neck, but as soon as the swelling goes down we'll be able to tell how much damage is there."

"Will it be bad?" LeeTeuk asked.

"Not likely," the doctor said. "But we'll make sure." He nodded to them all; they bowed as he left the room.

LeeTeuk sat down and leaned on Kangin. "This is a mess," he murmured, then looked up. "Who is she?"

HeeChul shook his head, as did Hankyung. "I think we should know," HeeChul said, "but we can't place her. And... neither of us got a good look at her face."

Hankyung shifted a bit. "I did," he murmured. "But I don't recognize her. He wouldn't tell me. You can check with Kibum?"

LeeTeuk nodded. "Yes," he said, and closed his eyes. "I'll ask."

But Kibum didn't know, either. "He didn't tell me," he said over the phone once LeeTeuk had assured him Yesung was fine. "Just that she was a possibility."

LeeTeuk furrowed his brow. "A possibility?"

"That's all I can tell you, honestly. He wouldn't tell me."

LeeTeuk sighed, thanked him, and hung up. He'd done what he could; until Yesung woke up, he couldn't do much more.

"Hey! Miryo! Your favorite group is on TV!" GaIn yelled, and Miryo stopped talking in the middle of the sentence. Narsha giggled. They were in their shared bedroom with nothing important on their schedule.

"Who?" Miryo called back.

"Super Junior!"

Miryo moved faster than Narsha, but only marginally. They arrived together just in time to catch the repeat of the news report.

"Super Junior's Kim Jongwoon, known as Yesung, was involved in a car accident this afternoon. He crossed DongNeum against the light. Witnesses say he appeared distraught and didn't check the traffic...."

Narsha heard no more. Her legs buckled and she sat down where she stood, staring at the picture of Yesung just to one side of the reporter.

"Narsha?" JeA asked.

Narsha tore her eyes from the picture and looked up, surprised to realize she couldn't see JeA for her tears.

"What's wrong?" GaIn asked.

Narsha shook her head and looked down again. Her hands twisted in her lap. "Did they say how he was?"

"No," GaIn said. "I didn't know...."

"Was it him?" JeA asked, her hand warm on Narsha's shoulder.

Narsha nodded. "Yeah. He was...." She took a deep breath and let it out.

"And he broke it off?" Miryo demanded. "That little...."

"No!" Narsha said and grabbed their rapper's hand, trying to stop her before her temper really exploded. "It wasn't his fault. His manager made him break it off. He didn't want to."

"You're sure?" JeA asked, sounding just as angry as Miryo.

Narsha nodded, remembering his despairing cry. "I'm sure," she said, and brushed her tears away. She would find out how he was... She got to her feet.

"Where are you going?" GaIn asked as she started for her room.

Narsha stopped and turned slowly, catching JeA's gaze. "I don't think I'm going to tell you," she said, and JeA smiled.

"I think that's a good idea. GaIn, Miryo... come help me put together a shopping list. In the kitchen."

Miryo grinned and took GaIn, protesting, into the room farthest from the front door. JeA turned to follow. "Be careful. Send an update when you have one."

Narsha bowed. "Thank you, unni." She ran to get her purse and hoodie.
