Have you ever watched a marathon?

Not on tv, no, actually been there.

I've been to two. Well... one marathon and one half marathon (I don't count Scott's first because we were there for maybe 45 minutes and my kids were too small to do anything).

The first was in Nashville, when my brother-in-law ran the country music marathon. It was COOL. and not just because of the music. Yes, bands on every corner. It was stunning.

No, because of the people. Not the runners, although they were amazing, too (some in costume, some going to the edge where kids held out their hands to be slapped - one lady say "I need some of that!" as if she got energy from these kids she didn't even know (these were specifically Scott's nieces and nephews), but the spectators.

Every runner that had a name on their shirt/shorts/arm/wherever got that name yelled. Everyone clapped for everyone. I could go hoarse watching one. It was just amazing.

It was the same today. We spent about an hour clapping, yelling, cheering for everyone that came through. Including the woman pushing her disabled son, and the man pushing his two kids in a bike trailer, his wife right behind. And everyone else that came in, whether we knew them or not. It's one of the most supportive environments I have ever been in.
