Yesung Gets the Girl, Pt. 1

Disclaimer: Not mine, not true.
Writer's Note: I don't know Brown Eyed Girls that well. But I like this idea. Also - the characters, living arrangements, etc, are from kangteuk_family role playing, which happened a few years ago and before Geng left. And, to be honest, I used who I did because they are the people I know. And… I took some liberties with a couple of characters (and changed some around). Please don't kill me for this?
Writer's Note Two: I started this a long time ago, and I think I fudged some with the timeline. If so, roll with it please?

Yesung wouldn't admit to anyone else how he felt. He struggled - hard, sometimes - to keep those emotions in check and invisible.

It didn't help that most of his friends had paired up with someone. He liked to hang around EunHyuk and DongHae, but not so much now that they'd gotten together. He still saw Hankyung very little, and only because he dated HeeChul, and HeeChul lived on the same floor as Yesung. Ryeowook was so wrapped up in Henry that more than once, Yesung wondered about them, but usually dismissed the thoughts as too painful. Kibum went through partners… weekly, at least, and his roommate went through them faster.

That was just his friends, and considering where he lived, Yesung thought he could count the single, non-dating people in the building on one hand. Three. And he wasn't actually sure about Kibum and Siwon (for all he knew, they actually met the same person multiple times).

None of that helped him to not feel, alternatively, jealous and lonely, and he was getting close to dangerous levels of depression as well.

Thankfully no one noticed. Or, if they did, they said nothing to him. Kibum would have. So he plodded (yes, it felt like plodding) along, following behind everyone, desperately hoping to keep this (oh, please!) quiet just a little longer.

The touch on his shoulder backstage at Inkigayo surprised him, and when he turned around, an incredibly hot and sexy woman winked at him. Then she grinned at his startled expression, and vanished in a crowd of similarly silver and black-clad women and black and grey-clad backup dancers.

What?

When his brain finally kicked into gear, he recognized her. Narsha, from Brown Eyed Girls.

Had winked at him. A smile curved his lips.

Someone nudged him, and he turned to follow him. It made "It's You" much more fun.

"What happened?" EunHyuk demanded, after (literally) bounding across the backstage area set aside for them, DongHae in tow.

Yesung lifted an eyebrow as he pulled his shirt off over his head. "Happened?"

"You're smiling," DongHae chimed in, grinning.

"We didn't notice you hadn't been until you did," EunHyuk added. "So?"

Yesung ruffled their hair, dodging the swipes to get him to stop. "None of your business."

"A-ha, something did happen!" DongHae crowed.

Yesung rolled his eyes. "Go change," he told them, and turned to find what he'd brought to go home in. The smile stayed until he got there.

"Yesungie?"

He looked up from unlocking his door, juggling keys and grocery bags, and nodded at Hankyung. "Hey."

"Got a minute?" The dancer took a bag, freeing Yesung's hand to actually get his door unlocked.

"Sure," Yesung said. As long as HeeChul's not involved, he added, but not out loud. "Come on in."

He took the bag back, kicked his shoes off in the hall, and led the way into the kitchen, a small thing but big enough for a table that sat two (if barely). He gestured for Hankyung to take a seat at the table, and began putting his groceries away. "What's up?"

"You're avoiding me."

Yesung didn't look at him, putting vegetables into the fridge with the milk. "No. I'm avoiding HeeChul."

The energy he'd had - the first in weeks since that stupid party he and Kibum had thrown - suddenly abandoned him. At least the perishables wouldn't spoil….

"You avoid HeeChul?"

Yesung leaned against the counter, still not looking at his friend. "I always have."

"Why?"

Yesung turned around. "I'm sure you've noticed we don't get along."

Hankyung got to his feet. "You don't like… us."

"What I like is unimportant," Yesung said wearily. "You seem happy. Are you?"

"Yes," Hankyung said with a radiant smile.

"That's all that is important," Yesung told him. "I think I'm going to lay down."

Hankyung peered at him, serious. "Are you okay?"

"Yes. I'm just tired." He hated how easily he lied, now.

"You're tired a lot," Hankyung told him.

Yesung gave him a bland look. "We're busy," he said. "You can't tell me your sleep schedule isn't messed up."

His loneliness hit him, suddenly, almost a physical blow, but he managed to keep it from his friend, answering him well enough to hide it. He locked the door behind Hankyung, fled to his bedroom, and curled up on his bed.
