JuYeon knew she looked horrid. They'd taken her just before she was supposed to meet YunHo for a date, and she'd been crying in frustration. Mostly because it had taken so long for him to ask her!
She was glad she couldn't see how her makeup had run, and just as glad that YunHo couldn't see her. Although... maybe she wouldn't mind if he came to get her.
She couldn't see anything but cement walls. Even the door didn't have a window, so she couldn't help herself.
Yet.
It'd happen, though. They couldn't keep watch all the time.
But no one came in until after the lights went out. They were smart, she had to give them that; her eyes hadn't adjusted to the dark when someone came in and set a tray down.
But they weren't smart enough, because she saw the keys hanging on the wall across from the doorway - there was just enough light from another room for her to see it. And if they didn't move them, she'd get them later.
The door closed, and the lights came back on. Were she in charge, she'd have done it another way, but whatever. She walked over to the tray, then sat down to eat.
"We're having fish at the school," a familiar voice said, and she almost shrieked. And then recognized it.
"LeeTeuk-oppa?" she asked softly. He had gotten really good at his illusions; she couldn't spot him.
"Are you ready to get out of here?"
"Yes," she said, and stood up. "How?"
"Can you get the keys?"
JuYeon smiled. "Yes," she said, and closed her eyes. She could see the keys, could feel them, and then pulled. Seconds later, she held them in her hand. "I'm going to feel really stupid if the key to this door isn't in here," she said - it felt weird, talking to someone she couldn't see, but on the other hand, she was used to weird.
"Their electronics will be a mess by now," LeeTeuk informed her, "so they shouldn't be able to see. But just in case..." he took her arm, and she could see him again. "That should throw them off."
It gave her time to find the right key, and let them out. Then she carefully closed the door behind her, letting it lock. They walked quickly down a long brightly lit hallway to an emergency exit. LeeTeuk grinned at her, and pushed it open.
There was no sound. "Ah, good, Miryo has seriously messed them up," he said, sounding stressed, and they walked on, letting the door close behind them.
Now the alarm went off, but on the other side of the building. Even the guards at the gate at the entrance left, and they walked out.
"Beware," LeeTeuk said suddenly. "I can't keep this up. They'll see us."
JuYeon glanced at him and noticed how exhausted he looked. "Oh, I can take care of us now," she said, and took his arm, pulling it across her shoulders.
A van pulled up in front of them, and the door slid open. She'd never been so glad to see Siwon in her life, especially when he jumped out and helped LeeTeuk in. JuYeon followed, and sank down next to Miryo. Junsu pulled out, burning tires.
JuYeon turned to Miryo. "Is YunHo-oppa okay?" she asked softly.
Miryo smiled. "it might have been the best thing to happen," she said. "He's wearing a hole in the carpet of the student lounge, blaming himself because he was late." She looked closely at JuYeon, then pulled a handkerchief out of her pocket. "See if you can clean yourself up. Your makeup ran."
JuYeon took it and tried to clean her face. "Thank you," she murmured.
The rest of the ride was quiet. JuYeon watched out the front window as the familiar grounds of the school came into view, and sighed softly.
"Glad to be home?" Junsu asked.
"Yes," JuYeon said. "Very glad."
"YunHo-hyung will be glad to see you, too."
I hope so, JuYeon thought, and Miryo smirked at her.
She didn't dare look at herself in any of the mirrors, following Miryo inside, and then had to go and talk to director Lee. He didn't say much more than 'welcome back', and dismissed her.
JuYeon walked up to the student lounge, not sure where else to look for YunHo, and smiled at the grin that lit his face when she appeared in the doorway. He strode across the room to her. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"I'm... well enough," she said. "I'm sorry I missed our date."
YunHo shook his head. "I'm sorry I was so late," he said. "But I can still take you to dinner, if you'd like. The cafeteria is still open. And we'll reschedule for another time, in town?"
JuYeon smiled. "That sounds lovely, thank you."
She still didn't look in her mirror after dinner, before washing the makeup off. She just didn't want to know how bad she looked. And besides, he'd asked her out again anyway.
