PETA: good or bad...you decide.
OK, so what does Rita have to say about all this now? First of all let me state, I'm a huge animal lover, I'm not a vegetarian, but I do not support PETA. Don't get me wrong here, I agree with PETA on one thing...animal cruelty is wrong, but to go as far as to target children, scaring them from drinking milk, etc ( Read more... )

came across this from another link. I hate peta and have little patience for all involved. Bill Mahr's comments made me want to slap him, but then they usually do. I just spent over a month at the Mayo clinic in Rodchester Minn. I saw people of all ages in conditions that broke your heart. No matter how sick you were, there were at least a dozen sicker. Sitting in a main lobby area and people watching usually made me scared and sick to my stomach. No one was there for a good time. Naturally.
I love my cats, and when someone ran one over a month back I'd have loved to have beaten the hell out of him. But if someone told me tomorrow that the death of my four kittens would bring a cure for Multiple Sclorosis, I'd do it. I'm completely against cosmetic testing, but medical doesn't bother me since animal tests if sucessful lead to human trials, human trials lead to more understanding and knowledge and hope for a cure.
I've been sick the last several years and have known many others who've battled an assortment of deadly dieases. When trials open up for humans people sign up, not so much in the hopes that it will help themselves but that someday someone else might not die from disease x.
No one wants see animals abused, but medical research benefits us all. Get a cure not only do people not die, but no more animal testing either.
Sorry, I got off on a rant. I would point out though that PETA (and or its members) has been documented by the FBI as threating to kill several outspoken critics, most famously (and well documented just google) Ted Nugett's daughters back in the 80's.
