As part of the movement to get the Board of Regents to postpone voting on the new "Free Expression Policy" in March, and wait until the faculty, students, and university community has had more time to review and reform it, myself and other students are to circulate this petition around campus next week. The online version that you can sign is here:

Petition To Reform “Free Expression Policy”
We, the undersigned community of Northern Kentucky University, find the “Free Expression Policy” put forth for review by university administration on December 5th unacceptable.
We find the policy, despite its title of “Free Expression,” does not allow for the spontaneous and free expression of ideas by the university students, faculty, or the community.
Furthermore, we have found that the methods of creating this policy, with the non-inclusive nature to the very community it is written for, and the lack of research into universities which foster a free exchange of ideas have resulted in a stagnant policy that keeps and expands on many of the restrictions of the previous policy.
Also, we have found that neither the Faculty Senate nor the Professional Concerns Committee were given adequate time to review, research and reform this policy before being put out to the Board of Regents.
Therefore, we conclude that the “Free Expression Policy” is suspended as a voting item from the March Board of Regents Meeting until adequate time and research can be done to formulate a policy that reflects the best work and needs of the university community.
