Bloody cars, rain, thieves and insurance companies!
Been offline for a while - phone lines were hit by lightning during some of the incredible storms we've been having lately. Most of Joburg is damp/wet/flooded or just plain nasty at the moment! Had to call a tow-truck for my son cos his car cut out in a mini-river that used to be a road!
My own car was broken into during one of the storms - window smashed, and centre console ripped out... all to get my cheap radio. They caused thousands of Rands worth of damage and messed up the wiring to get something not even worth R700. Also took 18 cd's, my suede jacket, 4 pairs of shoes and my RayBan's. Considering I work for an insurance company, you would think the claim & repair would be simple and straightforward... two weeks later I still don't have my car back, and have an absolute horror-story of a journal on the whole experience, from a 13 hour wait for a tow-truck, to the guys padding the claim, and it's not over yet. One of our directors wants to use it as a case study for the claims dept, so hopefully it will help somebody else, but I'm bloody frustrated with the whole situation! And I kicked up such a fuss they've given me a free hired car, but that's not the point - I want my 'baby' back!
Otherwise, life is pretty much the same. Plodding along in my job - not very happy there, but I have an interview next week, so we'll see if anything comes of that. At this stage, I'm seriously considering emigrating.
