Turkey on Greece, part 2: Electric Boogaloo

Nov 21, 2010 02:48

SO, Greece bugged me about this a bit, and I felt like writing it, so! What are Turkey's thoughts on Greece?

So, let's start from the beginning.

With the return of Greece to camp, Turkey was both happy and mad, for a variety of reasons. Turkey was happy, because Greece left camp before he could, but he left before telling anyone else how to get out of camp. That really pissed Turkey off. How could Greece do that? Leave all the rest of the countries in camp without even a little hint at how to get out. The reason could just that the director did it during a nap, and Turkey would still blame Greece. Because it's Greece's fault! So, Greece is back in camp, and Turkey was glad to see him, because that meant he was stuck again, and just as miserable as the rest of the countries here. And that also means that Turkey can pick on Greece as much as he wants again. There's no work to get in the way at all, an added bonus. As stated in Turkey's character profile, he loves competition and winning, but loves competing against Greece more, and loves it even more when he beats Greece, even if he lost the whole she-bang.

But at the same time, Greece is stuck. And they're stuck together. BAD END. Because they're Turkey and Greece, dog and cat! Greece gets on Turkey's nerves, with almost everything he does (though voting for him to join the EU makes him more bearable, but I digress) and Turkey wants to fight with Greece. Turkey rather likes living in the UN cabin, and if Greece lives there, fighting is inevitable. Given how they fight, it seems like only a matter of time to Turkey until they're kicked out for destroying the cabin. Fighting and winning against Greece is all fine with Turkey, but when it costs him his home, then that's when Turkey hates it. He would avoid Greece, when possible, but that's just taking the easy way out, and Turkey doesn't like that. So he won't go out of his way to avoid Greece, but he'll try to do something other then fight. But that's hard.

Then, there's the fact that Greece being in camp takes some control out of Turkey's hand. Turkey likes being in charge! Greece in camp means things can happen to him, and Turkey won't be responsible for them, and he won't be able to stop them! And that is not right to Turkey at all. In Turkey's mind, he is the only one allowed to mess with Greece. Period. There are other nations that Turkey would allow some privilege in messing with Greece (probably Egypt), but that would only be because Turkey let them. If anyone else messes with Greece, he'll get angry. Who the hell do they think they are, messing with Greece? That's his job, and his job alone. And that means Turkey's going to have to have a nice, little talk with them. Just to make sure the message gets across. This is all because, in a small part of Turkey's mind, Greece is still his. That concept of ownership is still there, at the very back of his head.

Turkey didn't want Greece to leave his empire. He fought to keep him. And he lost. Turkey feels gipped in the fight because others came in and helped Greece. Then the brat had the gall to fight against him in a couple wars. That was just like a slap in the face to him. Greece had just become independent and is already going against Turkey. A major slap in the face.

So why is this important?

Turkey is glad and mad that Greece is here. Greece was in camp for about a month before anything… major happened between them (for those of you following along at home, that event was them getting ruled). Now! The ruling starts off as being Turkey and Greece interactions: Turkey wants something, Greece says no, insert fight here. But halfway through, when Turkey has Greece pinned to the ground, Greece looks away from Turkey, and Turkey does not like that at all.

One of the reasons that Turkey loves picking on Greece so much is so that Greece will remember him. He knows countless nations that have been killed and pretty much forgotten. That came close to happening to him. So it's important to Turkey to leave a legacy behind, any kind will do to him, and it's better to be infamous then to be forgotten. He's sure to make good that Greece (and everyone really) will not forget him should something, anything happen to him.

So Greece looking away from him, when Turkey had some power over Greece right at that moment, said to Turkey that Greece didn't think him to be important. Turkey had Greece pinned, and Greece thought that Turkey wasn't important. If Turkey wasn't important at that point, then when would he be important? That really messed with Turkey a bit, and he ended up being a little lost as to what he should do. He figured, he needed to do anything and everything to make sure that Greece would consider him as something that needed his attention now, and not later.

He kissed him.

If there's one thing he knows about the brat, it's that Greece likes sex and everything that has to do with it. It wasn't in Turkey's intention to get ruled with Greece at all. He wanted to make out a bit (maybe strip him a bit), and then end up denying him anything more. Because Turkey does not like getting ruled at all, which partly deals with his whole thing about being in control, but also with the fact that being cockblocked and getting turned into something furry is not good. But Greece didn't listen to his warning and they ended up becoming a cat and a dog.

A little after being ruled, Turkey and Greece deaged to sometime around the mid-1500's, when the Ottoman Empire was at the height of it's power. The big thing to note here is that Turkey let Greece buy him during the counselor auction, mainly because he had also bought Greece, so basically, things remained the same between them. But, I think the main thing to note here, is that even though Turkey owned Greece, he still thinks enough of him to trust him to buy him. He'll never admit this to anyone, but Turkey does think a lot of Greece. Sometimes. Occasionally. When Greece isn't being a brat.

After being deaged (and waking up in each other's arms--), Turkey asked Greece out on a date. Turkey asked Greece out, mainly because it was something to mess with Greece and never really expected him to say yes. So now that Greece said yes, he plans to make it the best date ever.

Despite all the outward dislike and hate for each other, Turkey does like Greece and has no problems with going to him if he needs help. Historically, there was the 1999 earthquake and the Earthquake Diplomacy that came around because of it. In camp, both Greece and Turkey came to the other when they both needed someone. Greece when he found out Rome was in camp, and Turkey after that mind door post and he found out that both ZEX and Zhores, his two best friends in camp, were a little insane. Finding out that both were insane got to Turkey, because both of their minds touched issues that Turkey has.

ZEX touched on the issue of genocide, which… I won't go any further about that.

Zhores touched on Turkey's issues with not being able to help those that are important to him and the fact that he should not get attached to non-countries, because they die. So, after Zhores ended up being hospitalized, Turkey needed something stable, someone stable. And that was Greece. Turkey knocked on Greece's door and after talking a little bit about what happened, stayed the night with him. Greece was a comfort! An important comfort that Turkey needed.

Now then, what this exactly say about Turkey's thoughts on Greece overall? Well, Turkey hates Greece, but doesn't hate him. Turkey loves Greece, but doesn't love him. It's complicated! There are some sort of feelings there, but will they ever really amount to anything more then fights, angry kisses and the occasional hate sex? No, not at all. There is too much history, too much bad history between them to ever make anything right. And… that is perfectly alright with Turkey, because he doesn't want or need anything, when all he wants is at least someone to remember him (and if that someone is willing to have the occasional fight or make-out, then that makes them all the better).

Thoughts? Questions? Concerns?

Also, total word count ended up being 1453, or the year Turkey conquered Constantinople.
