F2P2: The Five Elements

Nov 04, 2004 17:48

Here are my responses to minn's wonderful bi-monthly "Friday Four Photo Project". The last set of questions were to depict Chinese Astrology's five elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth:

"Everything in our Universe, including humans, must have a relationship with these five elements. So, the five elements are applied not only to every physical attribute in the world, but also to the colours, directions, seasons and sounds, years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds of the Chinese calendar. These elements, calculated from the date of birth and time, give valuable insights in addition to [their] animal signs into the psyche of the person concerned, their inherent tendencies and their personalities in general."

Metal
~ Ring of chainmail on aluminum. ~

Wood
~ Bamboo pan pipes. ~ Large, wooden leg. ~

Water
~ Water droplets reflecting a blue ocean photograph. ~

Fire
~ Halloween jack-o-lantern. ~

~ This is of special significance to minn and I, as she has never celebrated Halloween let alone carved a jack-o-lantern before. The image of a sun and moon combination is spiritually significant to a person such as myself, and has a perfect application here-- a testament to our devotion to one another and proof that the power of love can achieve such things as elaborate, flaming fruit spheres. (Yes, a pumpkin is a fruit.) ~

Earth
~ Door to another realm. ~
