I am (trying) to actually write a novel which deal with this aspect --does being born into vampireism or and "evil" nature if-you-will make you "evil". Is it a self-fullfilling phrophecy? And what really is a vampire is it rather a mutation or illness of our own cells. And although the concept of a vampire (and werewolves for that matter) is fiction will our bodies one day mutate into this compleatly different being. Will our genetic make up alter and shift? And with it will our identity change too? Our very humanity (or vampity) manipulated?
