[ROTM] Give a demonstration

“I hate these things,” Flack muttered, leaning against the stage in the auditorium while the children filed in and started sitting in their seats chatting excitedly among themselves.

“You and me both,” McCallahan sighed, resting his elbows on the stage behind them as they leaned back. “Kids always ask the same questions.”

“Yeah,” Flack nodded. “And they’re the stupid questions that have nothing to do with what you’re doing the presentation on.”

“Tell me about it,” the older man groaned. “God, I’m so glad I’m getting promoted.”

“Try not to rub it in alright?” Flack sighed, giving him a look. “I know it’s going to be a long time before I get to do the same.”

“And you’re still not going to be getting a job as cushy as mine,” McCallahan grinned.

“Oh, yeah?”

“Hell yeah-I’m gonna be working Vice, baby.”

“You lucky sonuva-”

“Watch that mouth, Flack-don’t want the kids to hear you.”

Flack just rolled his eyes and leaned back against the stage again. “Take that damn smirk off your face, will ya?”

“Can’t,” McCallahan grinned. “I’m just relishing in the fact that this will be the last one I have to do-ever.”

“I wouldn’t say that,” Flack replied, giving his friend a look. “They send detectives out to these sometimes.”

“But not nearly as often,” McCallahan said with a grin. “Detectives have much better things to do. Like working actual cases.”

“Shuddup.”

McCallahan just grinned at him, and looked up as the teacher came over to talk to them. “Officers, we’re ready whenever you are.”

“Great,” McCallahan said, pushing himself off the stage and rubbing his hands together. “Let’s go.”

“Great,” she nodded, giving them both a smile, before moving over to the microphone.

The program went smoothly, and the kids were actually relatively good. There weren’t too much talking by the kids and they seemed to be pretty attentive. They were starting to think these kids were deviating from the norm, until the question and answer section came along.

“Does anyone have any questions for Officer Flack and Officer McCallahan?”

A group of hands shot up, and they picked one of them, a short looking kid with a ton of freckles, who seemed like a pretty smart kid.

“Is that a real gun?”

“Can we see it?”

“Have you ever shot anyone?”

Flack sighed, shaking his head slightly. “Here we go again.”
