Those were Scott Flack's first words to his mother as he burst into the door of their apartment. The kid was the spitting image of his father, dark hair and bright blue eyes, and he was covered in dirt and dust from the game. Flack was close behind him, hands in his pockets and a clearly proud smirk on his face.
Anna looked up from the book she was reading and gave them a bit of a surprised look. "A home run?"
"In the game," Flack replied with a nod. Scott looked back at him for a minute, his body practically vibrating with excitement as he looked between his parents. "Go ahead, tell her."
"It was the bottom of the eighth. We were down by two, and Mikey was on third, and Alex was on first. I was up, I had two balls and a strike, when the pitcher on the other team threw a fastball, right over the plate. I took a swing -- "
"Went right over the fence," Flack said with a grin. "It was beautiful. Really couldn't get more perfect than that."
"And we won!"
"That's fantastic!" Anna said with a grin as Seth ran over to her, plopping down on the couch next to her. "I'm sorry I couldn't be there."
"'t's okay," he shrugged. "Dad was there. It was awesome!"
Flack just leaned back in the doorway to watch them talk and enjoying the moment. For once he couldn't be happier, and he really liked that feeling.
