This is me procrastinating and also just sharing something that to some might seem like complete bullshit and to others might be a revelation. I don't know what I think about it yet.
According to my psychology textbook, if you are required to research and argue in favor of one opinion (for example, arguing for/against abortion), over time you start to agree with what you argued, regardless of your previous thoughts on the subject.
Basically, that means if you say something over and over and over, you start to believe it.
Kind of like when you tell a lie so many times that you don't even remember it's a lie.
Anyway, point is, we can use this to our advantage. We can look in the mirror and say to ourselves that we are beautiful and independent and fearless and talented and if we do that enough times, we might get through to ourselves. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts.
I don't know. It seems simultaneously stupid and brilliant. I guess that's because it's so simplistic. I for one am so used to overcomplicating things that when I'm handed something simple, I have no idea what to do with it or what to think about it.
I'm debating making this entry private.
