We can has City Car Club in Turku, plz..?

This is one of those days when I wish I had a car. Or rather, I wish there was a service like City Car Club in Turku.

I'm normally a firm advocate of public transport and in general I'm somewhat satisfied with the bus services provided by my city. Much as I like snazzy cars, I'm not all that keen on splurging money on one when I don't need it on a regular basis. There are also ecological issues to consider.

However, there are places that aren't conveniently reachable by public transport (which is in fact quite understandable considering the population density of this country), and there are also times when public transport is not an option due to time constraints. Today is very much an example of the latter. I'll need to go from place A to place B and then to place C via place A. This would be doable by car, on my own schedule, but it can't be managed by public transport within the time frame I have. And no, the time frame isn't adjustable. Taxi would cost too much, so what I'd need in this case is a cheap, as in truly cheap, as in dirt-cheap, car rental service the likes of which exist in the Helsinki region.

In point of fact, with more frequent bus connections I wouldn't have this problem. But more frequent bus connections in this particular city are certainly too much to hope for.
