I am becoming more and more convinced that it is entirely Ohio's fault that I have no sense of direction.
Today I wanted to drive out to portage lakes and get some photos of the lake with big billowing blue storm clouds, so I started driving having looked at maps for it Friday. And for good measure I brought my compass.
I got on a road which mapquest assures me runs south east and started driving, the road itself also says it runs east, as it is called 76 East. My compass told me that I was driving southwest. Ignoring that I came to the city that was closest to where I needed to be and got off the freeway. I than got on a road which promised to run east. Again my compass insisted I was going south, with a westerdly turn.
I got off Kenmore road which says it goes east by making a right onto Manchester, which should have run right through the Portage lakes. However instead it ran into Kenmore, which I had just vacated and my compass proceeded to be no help as it almost always said I was traving west, except on one occasion when after heading south westish I made a left hand turn, which should have then run me south east. My compass told me I was going north.
So in conclusion, Ohio streets and my compass are both broke and I went and chased ducks in the rain instead of going to portage.
