I'm coming up with a number of them this week.
I wonder today what you all think makes a good writer/writing? Further, what makes someone a successful writer?
I read stuff written in some of my LJ communities and friends list that I think is just amazing and these people will likely never be as successful as some of the writers whose books line the shelves (and I daresay that I find some successful writers' stuff downright schlocky/boring/trite).
So, what am I missing here? What makes for a good writer? Good plots? Compelling characters? Phrasing? Being clever? What makes you want to read more? What makes you unable to put the darn book down so you stay up until 5am and hope you'll get through the next day?
