His music moved me and brought me new vistas. His album "the Phoenix" was one of the first three albums I bought with my own money (I bought Pat Benetar's "Crimes of Passion," "Grand Illusion" by Styx and "the Phoenix" with money I had saved from baby sitting as a birthday present to myself ( Read more... )

I am also in mourning. His music is so invasive (?) that I felt that I knew him. What a loss.

Invasive is an interesting word for it and I can see what you mean.

He was brilliant at getting right under your skin.

I hope you don't mind that I added you as a friend. I am a singer, songwriter, musician and I'm a member of the SCA. I am just beginning to learn renaissance music and hope I can learn from you. My persona is 15th Century Italian so that is where I'm going to concentrate initially. I used to be a coloratura soprano (when my voice was in shape!) so any suggestions you have would be most appreciated!

I don't mind at all and welcome!

I'll add you too if that's OK.

There is some terrific music out there from the Italian Renaissance (you'll love it). Your character sounds great.

Get thee to a copy of the A Cappella Singer; there are some great pieces in there.

Awesome! Thanks! I've also been asked to start a madrigal group in our Canton. So I'm just getting thrown in by both feet! Fun!

The A Cappella Singer has all sorts of Italian language madrigals in it.

And somewhere I have the website to a bunch of the midi files. I'll look it up and post it for you. In the meantime, here is one site to peruse.
