Room 218, Friday Morning/Afternoon
It figured, it really just figured that the one time Gabrielle went home and only stayed a day or two was the time she came back to Fandom and found out almost two weeks had passed. The passage of time was the least of her concerns today, though.
She'd only meant to stay a little while, see Xena, take Baru back home with her and get him acclimated to her home (and to Argo). That had been all. Then Joxer and Amarice showed up and decided to tag along, and she and Xena had resigned themselves to that, even if Xena was a lot moodier and off-kilter than normal. Then, of course, they just had to wander into the one town whose sheriff just happened to be yet another old friend of Xena's, and in a situation that they -- of course -- had to help her escape. Throw in having to deal with Joxer's awkward crush on her, and Amarice's bickering-turned-puppy-love with a boy she met in the town . . .
Well. Gabrielle never expected to go home and have things be perfectly calm and uneventful, because they never were, but on the other hand she hadn't expected things to take this much of an unexpected turn.
Nobody would have put money on Xena being pregnant. Xena swore -- and Gabrielle believed her -- that there was absolutely no possibility that it had happened the normal way. So yes, Gabrielle was more than a little stunned. (It was a jealousy-tinged kind of shock, but she didn't know why). She was also 110% certain that in light of this development, which would make so much more sense if Fandom had a thing to do with it, staying away from home any longer was not an option. The second word got out that the Warrior Princess was in any way more vulnerable . . .
Gabrielle didn't care to contemplate it. Never one to leave goodbyes unsaid, she made a few quick phone calls to friends, as well as to the clinic, and set about packing up her side of the room. By the gods, when had she ended up with so many things?
