Thanksgiving dinner recipes

DH and I cooked together. This was our first Thanksgiving with just the two of us, and everything turned out amazing. We didn't end up having enough to share like we planned, so we ended up making the sides twice.

Sous Vide Turkey Breast with Gravy by Serious Eats
We bought a whole turkey and DH made the legs while I took care of the breasts. I had a really had time tying the breasts together, so DH handled that part too. I had a cut on my finger and salt was making the whole thing pretty painful.

The skin took an hour to crisp up versus the 45 minutes that the recipe says, but maybe my skin was a little thicker or something.

Also, I used the stock for the gravy without any celery or carrots. We had our groceries delivered this time, and the celery and carrots were slimy so they went into the compost =( But the gravy turned out amazing even without the aromatics. We still added the onion, bay leaf, and gluten-free soy sauce though. Also, I used rice flour instead of regular flour to thicken the gravy since I can't have gluten.

The Best Mashed Potatoes by Gimme Some Oven
I used the turkey stock that I made from the turkey bones instead of whole milk, and I used lactose-free cream cheese. These turned out amazing!

Basically the only time we indulge in mashed potatoes is Thanksgiving, and these are seriously the best. I don't know why I never thought of adding cream cheese before, but that's what really levels up this classic dish.

Crispy Parmesan Air Fryer Brussel Sprouts on Diethood
We used parmiggiano instead of parmesan in this one. That's my preference whenever the cheese is a major component of the dish. But the stuff didn't really stick to the brussels sprouts, so the next time, we sprinkled a little more cheese and pork panko crumbs after the final cooking.

For dessert we had a pecan pie from the gluten-free bakery nearby, and DH made whipped cream. The pie was just ok, though. It wasn't super sweet, which I don't mind, but I didn't feel like it had a ton of other flavor.

This meal didn't have the traditional Thanksgiving herbs, but it still felt like Thanksgiving, and we still enjoyed ourselves.
