getting there!

We are almost there. The furniture is all set up. Now we just need to put stuff up on the walls. I also need to figure out what I want on my altar. I have gone back and forth on what I want to include. I got in touch with the fountain guy, and he said he would get the fountain to me in a couple weeks. It is going to be so beautiful. The challenge will be keeping the cats away from it, but I figured out some non-toxic plants he could use just in case. I have gone back and forth about including chakra stones on my altar. I like the idea, but those stones usually need some kind of cleansing or blessing to make them work properly. If I had them on my altar, they would probably just be used for decoration, which doesn't make much sense to me.

I went to a group meditation yesterday morning, and they used a really wonderful singing bowl. When I first heard about singing bowls, I thought they would be nice, but I wanted to start simple and just stick with the fountain. After actually using one in practice yesterday, I decided I'd really like to have one, but they are very expensive. They are handmade, and the one that they used in class was really big, maybe two feet in diameter. It made lovely, deep tones, and that's what I'm looking for. A singing bowl that size would unfortunately cost at least a grand, likely more, so that's not going to happen anytime soon. I also am not sure where I would put such a bowl, though I would certainly find a place for it. I have discovered that deep tones can be created with smaller sized bowls, so that's great to know. I found this singing bowl store Bodhisattva that has sound samples of almost all the bowls they have for sale. They also have antique bowls, which are pretty cool. The new ones are less expensive, but the antique ones are just lovely, and I've always liked antique and vintage stuff. I like stuff with a little bit of history.

*edit 7/11/15* I went to class again yesterday and the bowl was not as big as I remember. The sound was also not as deep in tone as I remember. Now that I've listened to other bowls, that bowl must be in better perspective. I'm glad because now I won't feel like I want one of those very large bowls someday, but rather that I need a bowl that is fit for me personally, which perhaps I found on Bodhisattva. Now it's just a matter of buying it.
