So, Dirty Pretty Things. Yes, you do fucking love it. Carla was more beautiful than I have ever seen him, also more topless and more sweaty. Got into the sold-out gig with Eleanor and we signed people up to a mailing list while lesser bands played - although the Rumblestrips were lovely! Funk indie can and does happen. Then Mr Barat came on and we all got rather excited about Fucking Loving It and (Bang Bang) being Dead etc etc, plus it being Sweet Like Nothing, and Getting Along with indie genius. And I liked the pirate song. What's it called? Me and El swaggerdanced to it. It was rocking, I am a total Carla Convert. I was disappointed that the gig was really hung on the two Libs songs - Get Along was the last encore. How can he sing, "don't bang on about yesterday" like that without sounding a bit hollow? He can definitely keep making edible new indie tunes with Gary & the other 'Pretties. Before, I might've said DPT sounds too much the Libertines - for instance, I started dancing to Campaign Of Hate when they were definitely playing something of their own - but then perhaps the Libs sound is largely the Barat sound? Ponder that one.

In other news, I'm back at uni and I'm fucking starving. Have resolved to eat brekkie at the world famous York Cafe in Clifton because there's no catering 'til Monday morning!!! Ludicrous. So, until I am strengthened by foodstuffs liberally fried, grilled and sauced-up, take care. xxx
