I really enjoyed reading Allie's answers, and mine aren't as detailed, but I figured this is a good meme, and a lot of the stuff in it, I don't really write about. And follow up questions, just ask :-)
1. First Name: Amanda. I don't like Mandy, though I'll let a few people call me that. I used Anda online for awhile, and maybe 2 or three people in RL call me that, but I haven't seen them in awhile-- but hey, that's what facebook is for. I don't have any other nicknames based off of my first name.
2. Age: 23.
3. Location: Currently, New Orleans, in Uptown, spending my days in Midcity. I like it-- longer post on this intended later-- but god, is it ever humid. and there are bugs!
During the school year, I'll be in Boston, in the Brighton area. Surrounded by grad students and undergrads
4. Occupation: Law clerk :-) So far, I love my job. Its fun! During the school year, I'm just a boring law student, haha.
5. Partner?: Nope! I've been single since the beginning of April-- but a fun update coming later for some of you.
6. Kids: Um, I don't like them. But I want some of my own some day. Some day after I'm 30.
7. Brothers/Sisters: One brother, who is almost 28. Two half sisters, one who is 42 or 43, and the other is a couple of years younger than that. Colin is a chemist and lives in St. Louis, Sonia does... something and lives somewherei n Louisiana, and Adrian is a minister in the Raleigh/Durham area.
8. Pets: As much as I would love to have cats, I feel like I couldn't give them the amount of attention they'd deserve, plus I don't really want to have to clean up after them and take them to the vet, plus Ariele and I have some friends who are allergic to them... so no cats. But I will miss Sushi and Crabcake, they were good little kitties.
9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
a) My summer job! Its amazing. I mean, I'm only one week in, and bummed I had to work today and tomorrow, but I still am enthusiastic about it-- I believe n what I'm doing, and I'm going to have a lot of really substantive work.
b) personal interactions-- missing friends from Boston and Cleveland and getting to know people here in New Orleans
c) I'm trying to eat right and run. Today was my cheat day, but other mornings and days i'm going to try to go on nice runs and eat all pollanesque like.
10. Parents: My parents have been married for 30 something years, and are both 62. My mom has been retired since I was a senior in highschool; before that she taught 8th grade math in Akron. My dad retired this December; he was a computer programmer. They are... interesting. I have a lot of hte same traits as they do, which leads to inevitable clashing. The worry, anxiety, and easy crying come from my mom. The stubbornness, occasional deliberate misunderstanding, and word games come from my dad.
11. Who a re some of your closest friends?: I don't like this question. If you think you are, you probably are. There are certain of you that I don't get to spend time with, really, that I would love to spend massive amounts of time with. But I don't get to. And that's sad.
But for now, I'm spending the evening in, at home, going ot bed at a decent hour, and either working on stuff for work, or writing another lj post, or talking on the phone or im, if someone calls/ims me.
