Hello again! (with SPN spoilers--and non-SPN pics!)

Hiya.  I know my posting frequency has been way down these past few months, but at least since SPN premiered, I'd been doing a decent job of posting episode reactions.  Not so these past couple of weeks.  The reason for that is I moved and was without internet until a couple of days ago.  I'm still without television.  But I'm practically used to

Hiya, Rosie! It doesn't surprise my that my view is like your son's. I think most people, if they can, try to live near the Gulf. Here, it's kind of the high rent district. I'm not far from the Diplomatic section of town (though, weirdly, the U.S. embassy is off all by itself, far from the water) and what is known as West Bay Lagoon, where a lot of very nice, rather expensive villas are being built. So there are a lot of shops and services here that weren't as close to my last place.

I would love to get some suggestions for a weekend in Dubai! Thank you for asking your son. :-) I may be flying over there shortly, but I have a feeling that trip may be shorter in duration.

My new place is quite nice and kitted out well. But it's a corporate apartment, so there aren't a lot of personalized touches. I would very much like to go to an Ikea and pick up some little kitchen/dining things, bathroom accessories, etc. There is one in Dubai and I can fly there roundtrip for right around $100. I'm thinking I might do a one-day jaunt. Get there in the morning with a big old suitcase, do some shopping, then turn around and come home. I know others who have done it.

My fun weekend will have to come later. ;-)
