I know I've got some people on my flist who are more slash-oriented than gen. To them I say, please give this story a try.
debbiel has written the sweetest, most wonderful future fic for Sam and Dean, entitled Seven Warning Signs Your Brother is Having a Midlife Crisis. It's not slash, because even though Debbie betas my slash stuff and similar work of others, it's not truly her thing (she freely admits she skims over the NC-17 stuff!). But I found it just as satisfying as any slashy rom-com out there. It's funny and in character and it even got me a little misty-eyed. It's the ending I'd love to see Sam and Dean get, but fear they won't live to see.
