New Do & Pic Spam

I've met just a few people on my f-list in person.  I've only ever been to one con in my life, and that could hardly have been called true attendance.  I came dashing in the door from work to Close Quarters' vid show, only to dash back out again when the show was over because I was moving the following weekend and needed every second I had for packing, etc.

I was chatting via email with
callistosh65   earlier this week, saying I'd had it with the idea of growing out my hair (a project nearly a year in the making), and was instead going to chop it all off and treat myself to salon color (instead of my trusty L'oreal box) and highlights this weekend.   It had occurred to me in typing this that Sheila and I had "known" each other in the online sense for over two years now (I'd come back to fandom with Pros in May of 2006), yet she'd never seen a picture of me.  I'd told her I would try and rectify that situation.  So today, armed with my digital camera and my own not particularly long...arms, I snapped a shot.  It's not Annie Leibowitz, but it's accurate enough.  I've posted it, along with some other shots of my life on the mountain.  If you're interested, scroll down.  If you're not, run away!  *g*  There isn't a darned fannish thing going on here.

Hello there.  You see my kitchen and dining room in back of me.  It's a gorgeous day here.  Thankfully, you can't see the dishes in my sink or much of the computer junk on my dining room table.

I have two cats. The tortie curled up before the fire is my old girl, Clementine. She is 17 and has lived with me in five states and 11 homes. Not much rattles Clem. She's a tough old bird. The big guy is Dudley. And, as I've told my nieces, Dudley is all about love. He hasn't an alpha bone in his body. He could crush Clem simply by sitting on her, yet he gives her plenty of room and respect. You can't tell it very well from this picture, but Dudley is polydactal, like the Hemingway cats. He has extra toes on all four paws--two extra on one of his front feet. He looks like he is wearing catcher's mitts on the ends of his legs. It's one of the cutest damned things I've ever seen.

But cats aren't the only critters.  I've lightened this pic, so I'm hoping you can make him out.  On the trunk, pretty much at the vee, you should be able to see one of my visitors, a raccoon, who utterly charmed me when he looked into my dining room window and lifted his little hand to mirror mine against the glass.  When I stepped out on my porch to take a picture, he ran like hell.  And kept running until he was at the top of this tree.  You can't really tell from this shot, but he wound up about five stories in the air before he ran out of trunk.

How do you like my demon deer?  I stepped out my front door to get a shot of this.  They're usually everywhere up here.  But lately they've been scarce.  You still see them, but instead of a herd of eight or ten, you see individuals.  I'm assuming all the does are off by themselves with their little ones.  I want them to come visiting!  I love fawns.

I was trying to get a shot of my new yard lighting (copper solar lights--pretty!), but this didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped.  Still, you can see the fading sun, my house and my faithful SUV, Sam.

I hope you stuck with it this long, because I tried to save the best for last.  This is a fall sunset taken off my back deck.  It's so pretty up here when the leaves change.  Thanks for visiting with me.  :-)
