I am still giddy over the awesome! All of the actors were so completely dialed into exactly where the characters were at that moment. Everyone seemed to be at a crossroads with who they were previously and who they were becoming. You could literally see John's walls going up as he hardened himself against the world around him. In a way his choice to save Cam at the end was less about their relationship and more about the fact that she is something he created, almost an extension of himself, and therefore one of the few things left he could trust. Something it looked like even Sarah does not qualify for anymore. Just what happened in that room? And Sarah, the look on her face when John for all intents and purposes chose Cam over her at the end, her realization that she was losing him... It was a moment that really sold for me the fact that above and beyond everything else she's his mother and she feels like she's failing him as that. Even Derek seemed to have relaxed like he'd let go of something he'd been carrying for so long. And Cameron, I would love to know exactly what is going on in that tin head of her. How much of what she said to John was real? Was any of it? I really can't wait to see where these changes take everyone this season. Seriously I am bouncing around like a demented fan girl--so not a good look for me.
I think you're absolutely right about John's choice to save Cameron there -- it's not about her, it's about trusting himelf in the future.
And I'm sure that the possibilities of John's and Cameron's link being developed over the season just got a whole lot messier and more fascinating, no?
