Say What You Like

I love BSG. I still love BSG. All the warts, all the slips. So what. The last three weeks, with the debut of season three, have reiterated what I've known for years: this is the best TV show out there. Abso-frakking-lutely amazing stuff tonight.

more spoilery reaction, albeit in brief )

I don't suppose you know where I could get the last 2 episodes? I missed them due to stupid scheduling misunderstandings.

I have been so impressed by this season. I think it's starting out as good or better than season 2. That's high praise.

Yes, it's a really good start. Reminds me of the exciting pace of S2's opener up through "Home" so we'll take that as a good sign.

Sure, there are holes in the storyline, here and there. Sure, there are moments that weren't perfect. But, damn, if this still wasn't the best hour of television I've seen in years. Right up there with KLG.

Yup. Right there with you. Ellen and Saul...OMG. What would any of us do when confronted with a choice between saving the life of a loved one and betraying them? Whichever you choose is both wrong...and right. Poor Saul. I expect he'll crawl right back into a bottle now. Or maybe he won't, just to make her sacrifice worth it.

Even Gaius: how many of us would really say "No" with a gun to our head and a warrant to sign for people who would die no matter what we did? I'd love to say, "Hey, no problem", but then I've never been there.

You're right -- the show's very clear at showing that no one has it easy. Not anyone!

So... I should possibly consider getting back into it?

It certainly has my interest, again. But I hadn't fallen quite so far out of love with it as others, so I'm not sure if it would do the same for you. Certainly, though, the third season's off to an exciting start and there are more possibilities all around than I'd have imagined!

What an absolutely amazing episode! I'm already aching for poor Anders, because you know that he's going to get burned by this somehow. And it's just fitting that when you finally see real humanity and character from Ellen, it costs her her life.
