GIP, exhaustion and more

Feast your eyes upon the glory that is my new icon! All hail elicia8 who created this and others in a wonderfully whimsical icon set: here. Adopt your own painfully cute emoticon icon! (Oh, and make sure to check out her drop-dead gorgeous treasure map which you can buy a poster of at cafepress.) All of that is most definitely squeelicious, even when you're strung-out tired and a bit under the weather.

I'm not going into the office tomorrow (yay!) but this hardly means I'm taking the day off from working. Screw this being pushed beyond complete exhaustion into some weird fugue state where I can barely function. Ruddy cold! Tomorrow I'll be missing nothing more than a French class (it being midterm day in the first year class) so I am staying home. And marking. And reviewing French verbs (I will conquer the futur proche for reflexive verbs). Since this will likely be, barring any catastrophic outbreak of illness, the only day I'll be missing this term, I think the damage is minimal. But I am not interested in heading into the office to face the barrage of people and demands upon my time. I'll get things done, peacefully, at home.

In other news, I have baked Molasses Crinkle cookies today. Yum for autumn baking!
Molasses Crinkles
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar (packed)
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger

Mix first four ingredients thoroughly, blend in all dry ingredients. Chill 1-2 hours. Roll into 1 1/4" balls, roll balls in granulated sugar, place on greased or non-stick baking sheets. Bake in 375F oven for 10-12 minutes (check at 10 -- you don't want to burn the sugar on the bottom!).

And now? Nyquil and to bed!
