quiet Saturday

It's been a fairly low-key day. I slept in, went for a nice long walk, did a little yoga, sat outside on the patio with the girls on their leashes... oh, yeah, I vacuumed, too, and did a bunch of dishes that had piled up during the week. (Protip: if a container had tuna salad in it, don't let it sit undisturbed in the sink with water in it for long stretches of time. Whew, that was a smell!)

Hana is getting downright brave when it comes to the vacuum cleaner, my sweet girl. She nearly ran away when it came within about two feet of her, but she stood her ground and stared it down, aww. She used to hide under the bed as soon as I pulled it out of the closet, so this is progress indeed!

I had other things I meant to do this evening (including replying to comments and to other people's posts, haha), but I got sucked into the never-ending scroll of trying to figure out what laptop I should buy. My current laptop has served me well for 8 years now, but it has been increasingly erratic in performance, tends to overheat, doesn't always recognize its power cord, the built-in microphone doesn't work well enough anymore for video calls, and once or twice Windows has bluescreened on me. So it's on its way out and if I ever want to work from home for a full day here and there (or even enjoy Skyping with people without having to deal with a headset), I need a more reliable computer.

Apparently the Labor Day holiday means there are some sales, which is my best opportunity to snag something at a good price until the Thanksgiving shopping bonanza, and since I'll be paying the chiropractor somewhere around Thanksgiving (to say nothing of getting Christmas gifts around that time), it wouldn't be a bad idea to make this purchase now. I think I have a couple of decent candidates, so I'm trying to weigh price vs. specifications vs. online reviews and oy vey. It's dizzying.
