Long time, no see
So, I realize I haven't updated this in far too long. Do you even remember me? I figured now was as good a time as any, so here's what I've been up to:
First and formost, nothing much. Pretty average boring day to day things. But that's a given. So, interesting things you ask?
Well, I've lined up some work as a sprite artist for a small indie game, through an online friend. Not even a game really, yet. More like a technical demonstration than anything. Should be getting payed when the work is done, which is really nice. Probably won't be much, but hopefully enough to get either a tablet or a new scanner. The friend in question wants me to get that, so that I can further help out with development, via character designs and whatnot. It'd also be really nice to get all of this artwork laying around scanned in, CGed, and all that good stuff. Need to get my digital portfolio up and running.
Apart from that, I've had one (or was it two?) other offers to do sprite work within the last few months... which is promising. The other two didn't really pan out, though.
What else... ah, yes, translating. I still don't know much Japanese at all, but that doesn't stop me from being a pretty damn good translator. Machine translator, dictionaries, thesauruses, fluent friends... FTW! Still working at Advent Children.net and the related sites as a updater and translator, and getting better. Also have done some minor stuff for other sites. DarkAngel is extremely busy with school, and seems to have put Before Crisis translations on hold for the time being. And she's not in Japan anymore, which means she hasn't played Episodes 16-22, either. So, it seems that those, at least, will be up to me. I've done well enough summarizing the events... I wonder if I'll be able to translate the full transcripts well... When I get around to it, that is. =/
Also, the Japanese 2ch boards. Good for news updates and the like, and as it turns out, the they're not so different from American gamers. Call things gay, rate video game women on boob size. It's nice to know that you can expect the same stuff all around the world.
Oh, and then there's photoshop. Haven't been doing much editing lately, though I have done some coloring and drawing. Here's a self portrait I whipped up with a hand mirror, Photoshop, and my mouse: Self Portrait. It's not spectacular, and kinda scribbly, what with it being free-hand mouse work, but it turned out as probably the most accurate self portrait I've ever drawn.
In a related subject, I've still got prospects over at Viz as a freelance comic book artist. Hopefully I can whip together some more samples and a portfolio before long, and hopefully the job can be done via fax and internet, as San Francisco would be a fuckin' expensive move that I probably wouldn't be able to do.
Hmm... what else is there to say...
- I want a PSP but they're still to damn expensive. Irregular Hunter X and Rockman Rockman look brilliant.
- I need to stop slacking off with the excercise, as I've put some weight back on.
- The other day I was flossing, and as I pulled the floss out there was a pop and a big piece of plaque snapped off the back of my tooth. I went into a momentary state of panic because I thought it might be a piece of tooth, and I get phobic about anything involving dentists.
- Disc 8 of the Guilty Gear Sound Complete Box is outstanding.
- I need to read that latest Naruto chapter.
- I need to buy Vampire Hunter D vol. 2 and 3.
- D.Gray-man scanlation seems to have vanished from the net, so I guess I need to find a new source.
- I'm starting to forget about Shounen series in favor of the more mature Seinen series, which I guess makes sense, since Seinen are targeted more towards people in my age group.
- While looking on a pirating website for an old cartoon I always wanted to see, I came across a find-a-fuck-buddy ad banner that had "La Grange" on it, and led to a handful of chicks, with nicks such as "wetpussy7007", all of whom live in La Grange Texas. Judging from their ages, I went to school with all of them. Weird, a bit scary, and extremely hilarious. I didn't find the cartoon I was looking for.
- I need to finish playing Snatcher after I completely beat Rockman EXE 6. And then I want to start replaying Rockman X3. Then I'll probably go back to World of Warcraft, where my level 34 rogue awaits.
