Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.--
George Santayana Can you see the footprints left in the snow after the storm? How about after the mud after a rainfall? What about after a generation has walked the path? Have they left their mark?
Can you see it?
Maybe it's not clear. Maybe the story changed so much from one campfire to the next that our eyes changed and the world became the world we never thought it could be? Maybe that's already happened.
Do you see the fossils? Of course you do. We burn them.
Do you see the plants? Of course we do, we eat them.
Do you see the world? Of course we do, we live on it.
Do you see the planets? Of course.
Do you see the universe? Of course.
So we see the same things, just differently. But if we see the same things then how could we not see the signs? The guides and the paths walked by our ancestors, telling us of realties just like ours.
What if the bravest, smartest, kindest, of all had left us signs? Messages of what caused our destruction and ultimate defeat so that we could change? So that we could deter the sands of time and move the compasses of fate?
So we see the signs. But do we really see them?
Why of course we do.
But then, perhaps a better question would be, how do you see it?
