It's not like I blog all that much, but recently LJ feels a little outdated for me. I'm trying some alternatives, mainly this one here
on wordpress.com. So, you know, adjust your RSS readers or whatever (friend list? what's that? is that like RSS, but from the 90's?).
You can use LJ's friends page as a primitive RSS reader (that is, ask someone with a paid account to set up an LJ RSS feed for anything which has RSS feed), and that's enough for me - my logic is that this way, I won't add anything which isn't worth the hassle of finding someone to set it up for me (because I don't have a paid account). This encourages selection and moderation.
As to why I dislike indie blogs, I'll give you the same (short) answer I gave in some comments discussion on my blog a short time ago: this is probably because of me being such a community person. I dislike stand-alone blogs because instead of being part of an intricate community, they're an entire site dedicated completely and utterly to ONE person, and physically isolated from all others. And I tend to dislike people who are THAT MUCH into themselves as to need a whole site just to scribble their random musings.
Rational? Probably not. But I don't really need to be a rational person, now, do I?
