Gently "snuggy" and warm,
your head pillowed on my tummy-
your eyes were so heavy,
but you fought
oh how you rubbed them and whispered
to stay awake until the the last star
faded from the screen...
Then goodnight
lights, trains, stars, and toes;
you picked the blue footed pajamas
and lay your head on my shoulder.
You asked for Guardian Angels and Moon Wiver,
and a Nightingale to sing you to bed-
a little hand clasping my finger
when at last sleep stole you away
to dream of stars,
and balloons,
of cookies and flying and frogs,
and of a gentle kiss on the forehead
as your mother slipped quietly from the room.
